Pinterest has no single button that merges two boards. To combine them you move all the pins from one board into the other, then delete the emptied board. It's a manual process, but Pinterest's bulk move makes it quick, and there's a smart way to keep the two groups distinct after they're joined.
Why there's no merge button
Pinterest treats each board as its own URL and follower list, so a true merge would break links and confuse who's following what. Instead it gives you the tools to move pins in bulk, which gets you to the same result with more control over where each pin lands.
Moving the pins
Open the board you want to empty and switch to its organize mode. Select all its pins, choose Move, and pick the destination board. If the two boards cover related-but-different topics, drop the incoming pins into a named section of the destination so they stay grouped. Once the pins are moved, delete the now-empty board.
When merging is worth it
Merging helps when boards overlap so much that followers can't tell them apart, or when a board is too thin to stand on its own. It's not always the right call:
- merge when two boards clearly cover the same subject;
- use a section instead of merging to keep a sub-theme visible;
- leave them separate if each has its own followers and purpose.
Back up both boards first
Once you delete the emptied board, its structure is gone, and a wrong move during the shuffle is easy to miss.
