To rearrange pins on a board, open the board, grab a pin, and drag it to a new spot. Pinterest saves the order as you go. That works one pin at a time, and there are faster ways to sort a board that's grown into a mess.
Drag a single pin to a new position
Open the board you want to fix. On desktop, click and hold a pin, then drag it left or right until the surrounding pins shift to make room. Let go and it stays. On the phone app, press and hold until the pin lifts off the grid, then move it. The change is instant and it syncs across your devices, so the order you set on your laptop shows up on your phone too.
One thing worth knowing: boards default to sorting by when you last saved. If dragging feels like it's fighting you, check the sort setting on the board. Switch it to "Custom" or "Drag and drop" so your manual order actually holds instead of snapping back to newest-first.
Move pins between boards and sections
Reordering only helps if the pins belong on that board in the first place. To move one somewhere else, open the pin, hit the three dots, and choose to move it. Pinterest lets you send it to another board or into a section inside the current board. Sections are the underrated part here. If your "Home" board has kitchens, bathrooms, and paint colors all jumbled together, three sections turn that pile into something you can scan.
Organize in bulk when there's a lot
For a board with a few hundred pins, moving them one by one is a slog. Use the board's organize mode instead. Open the board, click "Organize," and select multiple pins at once. From there you can move the whole selection to another board or section, or delete the ones you never actually wanted.
- Select every pin you tagged wrong and move them together in one action.
- Pull duplicates and dead links into a "review" section before deleting.
- Split an overgrown board into two or three focused ones.
Back up the board before you tear it apart
Big reorganizes go wrong sometimes. You delete a section you meant to keep, or a bulk move lands pins in the wrong place and you can't remember the old order.
